Hard Rubber mouthpiece with original vertical denim machine marks and original tip at 0.090"!!! (a tenor player's delight! haha) This is a large chamber mouthpiece with a great sound! It has great fullness and Presence to the tone, fills the room, very fun to play--I almost kept it for myself. Personaline models are considered one of the best mouthpieces of all time.  only $329.00

Looks like a 70s era Scoopbill with dropoff chamber & made of Stainless Steel. This one arrived after being altered to sub-par standards. You can barely see the curved machine marks on the table that go left to right. Just back from Bob Carpenter who repaired it back to a much improved playability...tip @ 0.085". It has a stick-on guard (blue) to prevent ligature wear. no ligature, sorry. Nice Berg sound--Deep, Loud w/o shrillness. 189.00

ConnEagleRACalto1.jpg (83864 bytes)ConnEagleRACalto2.jpg (106095 bytes) Conn "Eagle" Alto (RAC): Recently back from a refacing by Bob Carpenter to a .078" with a 19mm facing. Bob marked his etching on the table too ("RAC")! A great hard rubber mouthpiece that will give you a warm full sound--It would have originally paired with a Conn Chu. A large chamber on this one. 139.00

Sound File: Brilhart Level Air 5 vs The Woodwind vs Dukoff D7

DukoffD5altoFL0051b.jpg (78714 bytes)DukoffD5altoFL006.jpg (204593 bytes) Vintage Dukoff D5 {D6} Miami, FL Alto: Metal, rock & roll Loud mouthpieces.  David Sanborn power, it blows really easy and carries that bright sound naturally. We sent this to Bob Carpenter for reclamation as it needed Bob to be saved.  It was beat up as is typical for Dukoff silverite material. Tips and rails look great now, whole mouthpiece lightly polished, and Bob Carpenter refaced it to be an original D6 size tip measurement of 0.076", baffle is that large step/slope baffle. bite plate looks good too (usually worn through. It plays really nice with a Fat Dukoff sound, not as shrill as D7, new tooth guard installed. comes with rovner ligature and plastic cap. $375.00  (considering that D7 and D8 are going for 450-650, this shouldn't last too long.)

Item: WWS1.04.99.719.1.1-B75

mpc005broadusAlto.jpg (250678 bytes) Steve Broadus N.Y. "Perfected" hard rubber Alto:   This is the real deal.  Real smooth & rich tone, large chamber S3 model. Script in really nice condition.  Tip size measures 0.055", it plays really nice as is so I want to leave it this way for anyone looking for a reserved tone. It reminds me of Paul Desmond.  no ligature--needs one the size of selmer C*. These are hard to find mpcs and we love them. 279.00 Item: WSS62.35.7181.1-0

mpc006york.jpg (125110 bytes)mpc007york.jpg (137733 bytes) Vintage York alto: hard rubber mouthpiece with a VERY VERY LARGE chamber. This one's design is similar to Conn Eagle, early Steve Broadus, and Woodwind Co. mouthpieces. Tip measures 0.060". It is a good player, real easy blower. It sounds vintage with that tubby, spread large chamber tone. Not completely muted, but quieter than modern mpcs.  no ligature. $139.00

Item: WSS

TonalexIMG_20110623_114812.jpg (241971 bytes)TonalexIMG_20110623_114844.jpg (226613 bytes) Beechler Tonalex 5S Alto:  This is a composite plastic mouthpiece--white with black diamond inlay for the bite plate.  This received repair and refacing from Bob Carpenter and now has a tip size of 0.082". It has a small chamber. sound-wise: it is a bright, stuffy mouthpiece. I'm not sure I've ever put those two describing words on the same mouthpiece before now.  It responses best with a +2.75 size reed. No ligature. 99.00

Item: WWS00.00.6231.1-50-50BC

goldbeck2superb1.jpg (168086 bytes)goldbeck2superb2.jpg (213202 bytes) Goldbeck #2 "Superb" model Metal Alto:  These are 1920s vintage mouthpieces with a dark tubby tone, from a large chamber. They have fluted sidewalls on the exterior that had special ligatures (very hard to find)--the got lost, bummer.  Their design and sound is very similar to the early Otto Link Master models. The composite is interesting, something between silver and brass. Tip opened to a size of 0.065". No ligature, notice the lack of tooth pad design, we'll include a cushion if you'd like to play. Most buyers like these to strictly look at though.  229.00 Item: WSS

ConneagleWOS1.jpg (261753 bytes)ConneagleWOS2.jpg (182118 bytes) Vintage rubber Conn Eagle Alto: Vintage hard rubber from 1920/30s.  Originally it was paired with a Wonder or Chu.  It has a large Chamber and I just had Bob Carpenter open it up to 0.080". It plays really easy.  I would say it sounds typical of a stuffy, vintage tone but after Bob's work, it can cut through in the high register--still not as loud of a mpc as others.  no ligature. 149.00

Tonalin3alto1.jpg (136911 bytes)Tonalin3alto2.jpg (154650 bytes) Brilhart Tonalin 3 alto: #180276 with script in great condition. This one plays really nice with decent focus as you would expect from a Tonalin.  Not too loud (small tip) and it helps cut out the high-tones. A good smooth Stan Getz, Louis Jordan type sound--high treble tones get cut out. Tip size at 0.066", tooth pad sticker installed. Comes with ligature. I just noticed a hairline crack at the shank; I am deciding whether to send it to Bob for banding ...perhaps with a customer order, we would be willing to Reface this one to a larger tip. (5*?) 219.00 *a nice blower!

RAC_Tonalin_Tenor.jpg (132806 bytes)  Robert A Carpenter alto:  Here is a White composite plastic mouthpiece and it's very nice.  We got it with its original tip and Bob Carpenter opened it up to a .082"  with a 19mm facing... and it is easy to blow, makes a big vintage tone, with just a little edge. It's a medium/small chamber, fat sound(similiar to an Ebolin), with a great price. 139.00

Tip measures 0.064" and it's made of Hard Rubber from the 30s/40s...at least prior to the 50s...so paired with Selmer S.A. or S.B.A. models, it's in pretty nice condition.  There is a minor ding in the table opening but it won't hinder playability (also small mark at the tip barely worth mentioning).  I played it side by side to my modern s80 C* and these are much more reserved without edge--a very vintage, tubby sound and a good fit for orchestral work. 299.00

I get a lot of questions about my old friend Bob Carpenter...

Bob got a lot of mouthpiece refacers started, such as Theo Wanne, who in turn, got others started later...

but no one does nicer work than Bob.  Check out "Bob's Page" to know more: READ ON...

A professionally custom refaced mouthpiece will almost

always play better than a factory facing.
