If you wish to schedule a rebuild, or purchase one of our saxes (and it still needs to be rebuilt),  send us  a 50% deposit to hold your place in the work schedule.  We work from a published schedule (see left margin) so that your sax will only be out of your possession a couple weeks, while i do the actual work, it does not have to just sit on the shop floor, until its turn comes up... you send it to arrive on schedule and we return it on schedule.

E-mail "the sarge" & Chadd with  questions about our vintage saxes at:   worldwidesax@gmail.com

Click the links above  to see what's in stock.   If  a horns says "just rebuilt", then it's ready to go, saxes that say "scheduled for a rebuild" are waiting for the work to be done, but it will be included in the posted price.  If a sax says "ON TRIAL" someone is taking advantage of our "Three Day Trial" policy (See Info and Orders page).

Naked Lady,  Serial #327,5xx  in good overall shape with Original lacquer at about 60%.  It does not have Rolled Tone Holes, but does have the fine tuning neck adjuster, also one roller in the pinky cluster is not original. We'll see if there's a better match here at the shop.  This one will also have a nice big sound and has the characteristic Conn edge.   Chadd finished a Vintage rebuild with natural cork throughout, adding some quieting Premium extras & Saxgourmet Black Kangaroo Skin Pads and put large flat metal reso's. Comes in worn original but working case.   1699.00  Just Finished   $200 OFF SALE   $1499 This should not last!

1923 GOLD Buescher TrueTone Alto: Excellent condition Satin GOLD plated body and polished Gold keys is about 98% intact.  Was rebuilt by a famous Hollywood repair man a few years ago but sat in the closet ever since.  Pads look good.  It has snap-in  resos (look to be gold plated as well, we think) and comes with original case in good condition. These have great ol' woody tone but are tougher than later Aristos on intonation.  Honesty Note, notice the lack of front F on this era.  This was rebuilt elsewhere, case is in very nice shape(to match the sax) and it arrived with a bit of that ever-common 'old' smell.  We are treating that it help...but considering how beautiful the Gold is, we will sell her for: 1369.00 Ready to Blow!  SOLD

I (chadd) actually took this to a concert band rehearsal and didn't have as tough a time with intonation as I may have advertised...not bad for a sax from 1923 !

1941 Silver Buescher "Big B", Aristocrat Alto:  (On Consignment--Plays Great!, the owner just authorized us to do minor tune-ups and make it play great, New D pad added...photos show the old D pad.)  This is a super early Big B, has the desired "01" neck, and the early engraving style too.  Serial number 294k, model 140.  The silver looks good overall at about 95% with small wear spots on the high posts and key touches. The Goldwash bell looks good but faded in spots. I will give a buyer 15% off replating the bell in either Gold or RoseGold.  The original Norton springs look good on all screw-ins (minus a few changed on flat springs: side C, perhaps all palm keys). All respond well and should not be a concern.  This one has the early bore with a longer flare than the next editions. They are versatile, warm sounding, comfortable playing altos, with better intonation than most, even including Selmers.   All the original snap in system is mostly intact BUT the palm keys + high C# (all 5 small keys) have no snaps, which is pretty regular. it comes in a used Protec zipper-wrap case is good working order...ALSO comes with a Beechler S7S mouthpiece($74) with the diamond inlay.  2299.00 ...$+500 OFF  now 1800! motivated seller

F#--Highly over-engineered. The serial number is 23,8xx, which means it was made in 1975.  the 70's model Buffets had a little more edge and some folks prefer them for that trait. The S-1 is actually quite brighter and bolder than the previous SDAs; so they're a cross between the Buffet SDA & a King Super 20. Comes with a case in solid shape. It was recently rebuilt elsewhere with plastic selmer style plastic resos. SOLD

It now bares battle wounds that are a visual challenge but not going to officially change the sound of this being a 26M.

The Good/Regular description: Naked Lady, deluxe model with crazy adjusting mechanisms and solid silver key Inlay touches...in Original silver finish at near 90% (minus the two palm keys) with ser. # 307K.  It has Rolled Tone Holes and the fine tuning neck with underslung octave key.  Goldwash bell interior too.  All stamped "VIII"s have been credited for playing better among 6Ms the same is assumed true across that era in these 26Ms.  These are also known for stunning intonation.

The Bad: this was rescued from some bozo who decided to literally screw it to the wall!  They put 3 holes in the bell/bow and bent the bell out of place. Another Tech worked on this one to get them filled but one did 1/2 a resto on it.  We will be refilling those holes (currently with solder, we might try silver solder at high heat for strength and finish) and removing the bow and bell to align the body again (this is what needed done the frist time). also {sigh}, palm keys Eb & D were lost and are now standard 6M parts. I have a great idea to get them looking more original and they, of course, will need silver plated to match )probably go to Anderson for the component. Unfortunately, it won't be worth paying for slabs of silver to create the inlay touches, but i have a secret plan for a resto look/design--possibly getting a solid silver chunk to literally make my own inlay...x2.

We will most certainly have to re-Gold the bell too--probably Rose Gold.  Once we get to repad it it will play great and look better. I am leaning for either a Vintage Conn-Style rebuild or something more elaborate. Comes with an old case right now, I might have to repair it or get a whole new replacement...all in the process. I bet this sax will take a month from start to finish. Good thing these have a richer sound than 6Ms (in our opinion) and are worth playing, even with battle scars. 2599.00 still available; work set to begin in queue for 7-15-11

These magnificent horns are well known for the huge sound and power that they bring to an ensemble, and the horns from this vintage are regarded by most as the finest saxes ever made.  Matching serial number on the next as well.  We noticed the slight lacquer difference from the neck tenon & receiver in the photos...we can be assume that a previous owner added extra clear lacquer over the silver neck. Many Super 20 owners add this to help control the silver tarnishing.   This instrument is in very good condition with one dent from the pants guard on the backside and the tiniest ding on the body near the octave button. There are a few other tiny marks throughout.  Lacquer is definitely original, and darkened beautifully!!! with age and about 90% present, looks very nice, vintage. KingZephyr31836X.jpg (453430 bytes) (photos coming) 1950s King Zephyr Alto:  (On Consignment) Rebuilt elsewhere, all newer pads, plays excellent.  Early 1950's King Zephyr alto was kings standard at that time, so similar in design and body that it is affectionately known as the poor mans Super 20.  Lacquer is original but spotty and has many fine scratches, with a nice brown patina on the bell engravings area and neck, at about 60-70% coverage.  These are very strong horns with a medium (not too dark / not too bright) sound, but flexible with different mouthpieces. Comes in vintage tweed case = vintage cool!  :)

These magnificent horns are well known for the huge sound and power that they bring to an ensemble, and the horns from this vintage are regarded by most as the finest saxes ever made. This particular instrument is in very good condition. Lacquer is original, and about 85% present, looks very nice, vintage. There are a few dents here and there I will do my best to remove, but the pads and action feel very tight and this horn plays well.  It will get our Complete Standard Vintage repad with flat resos + rivet,  keywork is nice and tight, no play.  Original case  included, in fair shape.  3799.00  JUST FINISHED, READY TO GO!

There are no major dents just a few small ones that i will remove, when i do a complete "Vintage style" rebuild on her (included in the price) 1199.00

Original lacquer 80% with signs of use. Beautiful vertical Martin engraving on entire bell and standing lion engraving too, ornate key guards...etc. upon the first look-over, i don't see any resolders. cool! There is a very minimum amount of dings or evidence of previous ding removal but mostly several small chair dings in the bow, we will burnish any we find and make it look great. it has a slapstick rebuild ....ugh, so we have to tear out everything and start fresh--also will help remove the 'old' smell that soaked into them.  These are Fantastic playing saxophones that feature solid nickel keywork and lacquer over the nickel(most comm2's show burn signs from a bad era of techs);  i will do a complete rebuild with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS tan lambskin pads and flat metal reso's.  Original case is pretty nice shape, just stinky on arrival which we will treat it with our special cleaners.  1699.00

Great/fat/lush tone, decent ergos. Nice early ser # 160K matches on both the neck and body. Early ones are know for fatter, more resonant tones.  The sax is overall in good shape with 85% lacquer; heaviest wear is is down on the bow, all the rest is normal wear from use. Some small dings will burnish out.   It comes in an original, orange Martin Case in working order but will need a little TLC on one latch--just all stinky on arrival. we will clean it and the sax rather intensely. it will get a complete rebuild with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS tan lambskin pads and flat metal reso's.  1799.00

This fully silver model (no goldwash bell) is one of the great ones built for the military as the "U.S." stamp on the bell explains.  I would guess this sax lived out at sea due to its dense tarnish spots.  The sax is overall in great shape with +95% silver intact, hardly any obvious wear to mention even on the key touches.  There is no real damage on the body itself either but the low C & Eb keyguards have taken a few hard hits. I did some preliminary work to get them in order but will focus on them some more during the rebuild.  I would would highly recommend adding some Rose Gold to the Bell interior for the pizzazz it deserves.  If it were going to be my horn, I would rather put all new stainless steel springs in...I'll give you 50% off a full spring order if you choose this--normally $210. Otherwise, I will replace only the 4 or so (included) that have fallen out.   It comes in a nice, newer case. i will do a complete rebuild with our "Vintage Standard" set up, Prestini NS tan lambskin pads and flat metal reso's.  2199.00

serial # 208,xxx. Lacquer is about 65% with spotty wear throughout.  We think this is a very well done relacquer (at first we thought it was original, until we took it all apart... that's the litmus test!).  This is the legendary Mark VI of the sax world--Excellent ergos, good intonation, good middle-of-the-road everything--with respect!  The world loves them.  It was just given our French Standard Rebuild with seamless Pisoni metal domed resos (total price for this all new rebuild 749.00). Comes in decent Selmer  tri-pack case with clarinet insert and flute clip all in working, but fair, condition with frayed edges and zipper wrap (smells OK!). Just  4150.00 There's always one on Ebay for that and it needs a complete rebuild.

This horn has a serial number in the 13,xxx which makes it a Rev D from about 1953-4.  This one is a very well done "Relacquer"  it looks great.  Includes very nice original case too. You can search the web for more info but these are fantastic saxes--they are extremely versatile.  They SML_ALTO_13K1.jpg (609031 bytes) are French like a Selmer but they were trying to make a bigger "American sound" like a Conn....what they created was a sax with more body and fullness to the sound than a focused  Selmer Mark VI, which were designed for orchestra use.  This sax is getting a full "vintage rebuild"  with Tan Prestini NS series Lambskin pads.
