Worldwide Sax was created by Steve Stransky in 1998. After several years in Seattle, we reestablished ourselves in 2000  in Everett ( 20 minutes north of Seattle).  In January 2011 WWS was sold to Chadd Berry, Steve's apprentice. Pam and Steve still live in the house on the corner and are almost always home; and  I too live nearby and will make my best efforts to help appointments.

People often say, "oh, I expected it to be a big retail store downtown, or something"... Uh uh, this is my repair shop.  I have a lot of great horns, and most of them are waiting for me to rebuild them, but you are welcome to try out anything I have (but only at 2-3 horns per visit...that the rules folks, i don't make 'em...no wait, i do make 'em).  Call first.  We will endeavor to have all the saxes that are rebuilt on display, ready to play and the rest are in the loft above the shop, if you want to see the "before rebuild" horn.

INFO AND ORDERS

All our Saxes have a 3 day trial period, with a money back guarantee, less shipping and handling charges.  Same applies for mouthpieces.  Ebay auctions do not have a trial period, as all auctions are final, "lay a ways" do not  have a trial period, but we do guarantee the product to be as described.

How it works:  You must pay for the sax and shipping (your choice of shipping, as you pay for it) in advance, then we ship it to you.  Once you receive it you have three days to play it and decide if you love it, or want to return it.  You must let me know via email or phone, by the third days end, or it is sold.  if you decide to return it,  it must be packaged same as it was received and shipped back on the fourth day (or sooner).  As soon as it is received here, you will be refunded all but your shipping and any paypal , etc. fees, and our small handling fee (See below) asap.  Deposits received for pending sales to customers, of our WWS stock, are not refundable.

How else does the 3 day trial return work?  we can't just " rent" (send a horn out, with a check for surety) horns for a weekend for free ( it happens way more often than people think).  So, at this time we will have a  "25.00 for a handling fee" policy on any return and then the Per-Day late fee added ($10, $15, $5...etc) for returning late, UNLESS a sale is made sometime later, for any horn.

Please e-mail  with any product questions or call:

10:00 - 5:00 pst Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat.

Get to know your Techs:

Steve "sarge" Stransky:     Ok, i get hundreds of sarge2009.jpg (322886 bytes) emails, asking "Why Sarge?"... although I was in the service, my Sarge nickname came years later, (when I was in one of my favorite road bands) from my very good friend Hugo Taylor.  He tagged me with it and it has stuck for some 23 years.

worldwidesax is  your resource for Vintage Saxophones and Mouthpieces on the world wide web.  We are vintage saxophone specialists and have a lot of experience with all makes and models of vintage horns.  Not many shops can boast rebuilding or restoring about 100 Vintage horns every year... we can.  Our goal is to bring you the widest possible selection, display as many as we can with accurate, quality pictures and descriptions and guarantee what we sell, to be as we describe it or your money back.  I created Worldwidesax to reach out and fulfill the needs of players all over the world and have succeeded in doing just that, in 23 countries so far.

I use a combination of time honored traditional methods, as shown to me by a great retired local repairman who worked at the Conn factory, as well as a few other talented local repairmen who showed me some of the latest techniques, like custom pad jobs and  Teflon friction reduction.

sargewitharisto1tenor2-2011.jpg (1081757 bytes)Freshly rebuilt Vintage saxes are still the best buy on the market today. They play great and sound wonderful, and in each and every case, you have been listening to the great Jazz players of the 1920's-1960's on vintage saxes.  You can own many vintage professional horns for about the same price as a current student modelThe next time a salesman tells you intonation is bad, or you can't finger like, or sound like a pro on a vintage horn, ask him what he thinks the greatest players of all time all played on...

That's the worldwidesax story...  As for me, I started playing Alto Sax in 1961, in the 5th grade,  and along the way I picked up blues harp, guitar/bass, keyboards, drums and Lead Vocals.  I turned pro right out of high school, in '69, then after over 10 years of road life I started to play part of the time and teach the other part... Then some more years of road life, finally in '85 I took a job as manager at Kennelly Keys Music's largest store, where I sold new and vintage instruments and had a little repair bench in back for 7 years.  I worked on everything, horns, guitars, violins, you name it, if it had to be fixed now, I fixed it.   I think this helped me to think creatively about repairs and to improvise.  I take pride in my work and also my work ethic and scheduling, you can count on me to finish on time.

My musician and road buddies all call me Sarge, my older friends call me Steve, i answer to both.  i love music and the music life... i know what you have to deal with...  pro or hobbyist,  i've done it too.

thanks, steve.

Chadd is the #2 chair here at WWS, has been doing all phases of repair since June 2008

Chadd Berry:   Along with working for Worldwide Sax, I teach Band at Stillaguamish Valley Home chaddwithBass001b.jpg (1617884 bytes) School in Arlington, WA,  and squeeze in private saxophone lessons during the summer.  I am primarily an Alto player at heart but I often bring my stable of saxes out from gig to gig.  It just depends on what I feel like and what they need me to play. I also dabble on guitar as necessary too. Soprano has been a frequent flyer as of lately!

Like many sax players, my sax history started with alto saxophone in 6th grade and I consider myself fortunate enough to have owned a soprano, alto and tenor by the time I graduated high school--although the alto was the only quality one. I went to high school in Arlington, WA where I participated in anything ‘band’ related. I loved all of the pep, jazz, symphonic, small ensembles and marching bands. I was a Drum Major (the guy with the fuzzy hat and baton) for 3 years which I credit for developing my teaching abilities.

I am a 2007 graduate of The University of Washington (UW).  While attending the UW, I played in several music groups and enjoyed my four years of Husky Marching Band (HMB) that seemed to exhaust us during each Fall--Go Dawgs!.

Chaddspic1.jpg (1238820 bytes) Now, interspersed with work, I try to find time to play at church on Sunday, former stints with The North Cascades Concert Band during the Spring and Fall, and substitute playing for various other groups like The "Skagit Swings" & Jazz Underground Jazz Bands, or local combos when needed. I sought out Steve during April of 2008. It’s a good thing I had a The Martin Tenor that I wanted to fix up otherwise he may not have been as interested. (Steve likes Martins…a lot. I now know why.) Since I've been at Worldwide Sax from June 2008, I’ve finally been able to upgrade my tenor and soprano. (Thanks Steve!) I love my new, pretty 1947 “The Martin Tenor” and, for now (Haa!), my 1924 Conn Wonder silver soprano.  {I'm sure these will change and as my collection grows over time.}...{recently added an SML Rev D Alto to my personal stash}

In 2010 I officially started my own business, "Only Saxophones", that carries a small stock, but wide array, from the many trusted student models to intermediates and even pro/vintage In 2010 I officially started my own business, "Only Saxophones", that carries a small stock, but wide array, from the many trusted student models to intermediates and even pro/vintage horns.  (This is all with Sarge's good graces of course!) Currently listed at:  www.onlysaxophones.vpweb.com I got started with my business under Sarge's help but its inception was driven by the need for local students to have a trusted instrument brand to own rather than a no-name sax cheap "instrument". You will see a few of Only Saxophones' horns For Sale on the WWS site and you can rest assured that I will rebuild them to Sarge's standards and they will play great for a long time.  I feel blessed to be taught by one of the best.  Sarge has passed on great techniques and I find myself agreeing to his unofficial motto..."I like to take my time even though some shops that can rush through it but let me make it perfect even if it takes a little longer. Everyone wants it to be perfect."  OR my all-time favorite: "There's no law against owning more than one!"   (I soon after bought a my SML Rev-D alto & love it!)

In January of 2011, it was my pleasure to begin my purchase of World Wide Sax!  Sarge had graciously allowed me to continue the business as it's always been...but put me "in charge", so to speak. He's continued to be a part of it all since that day and I can best explain it like this: "Sarge is still here, the shop runs like it always has--He just gets to do whatever he wants now!"  haha.  It's a great gig for him as he slips into retirement but still being a part of his grand creation. I feel lucky that he has endorsed me with the trust of his baby--WWS.  Thanks buddy, it has been an honor to continue to learn it all from you.

I hope to serve your rebuild/restoration needs in the future.

This fee is designed to offset the cost of using charge services (currently apprx 3.45% of transaction total) and the extra paperwork, not to add in any  way to our profit margin, but rather to keep overall prices from rising.

You can call me (chadd) 360-631-0943, to reserve a sax until you can arrange payment,  then have us UPS or mail it to you any where in the world.  In order to keep overhead and prices low, we have no costly 1-800 number, so E-mail your questions to
worldwidesax@gmail.com and we'll e-mail or call you back, to answer any and all detailed inquires.
All our Saxes have a 3 day trial period, with a money back guarantee, less shipping and handling charges.  Same applies for mouthpieces.  Ebay auctions do not, as all auctions are final, but we do guarantee the product to be as described.

3 Day Trial:

Customers returning a saxophone from a 3 day trial  are subject to a 25.00 Handling Fee (for cleaning and restocking).  If the horn arrives late, Late fee structure is set up as follows:

1 day late,  extra fee 10.00 (so 25.00 handling + 10.00 late fee)

2 days late,  extra fee 15.00

3 days late,  fee 20.00... etc, add 5 dollars for additional each day over 3 days, and a fee of  2% of the saxophone or mouthpieces website price, until the 14th day passes.  No exceptions.  There can be no returns whatsoever, after two weeks have passed.

LAYAWAY Purchase Plan:

We do accept Layaway's, for 90 days maximum, with no finance charge.  Deposits are a minimum of 25%.  You must agree to pay for the item within the 90 day period, or forfeit your deposit.

WorldWideSax  Consignment Sales Policies

Consignment sales are always “AS IS” items.  We do not do any work on them, unless specified at the time of sale and paid for in advance by customer.

We do, however, play each sax and help by rating them as:

1. “Playable as is”.

2. “Needs adjustments to play correctly”

3. “Needs rebuild to play correctly”

Consignment sales have no guarantees, however you do have a three (3) day “Trial Period” in which to decide if you want to keep the consignment, or return it (some saxes specific "no trial" in the description at the owner's request).  You are responsible for shipping and insurance both ways.   Worldwide Sax's restocking fee will apply and all funds received will be refunded, except for shipping and pre approved repairs.

To have WorldWideSax sell your sax "On Consignment":

1. Contact Us.  We'll fill out a Consignment Agreement together to establish the selling price range and other details.

2. our fee is 20%.  If you hire WWS to first rebuild it and then Consign it, the fee is 14%

It's pretty simple.  :)

WWS shop policy:  We are a small shop and can not store your instrument for over 90 days.  if you leave your instrument over 90 days and we can not get a hold of you at the number/information you left us, we will assume you are no longer interested in your sax and we will either sell it, or assume ownership of it.  No exceptions.  Every shop in business has this policy, most say 30 days.  It is your obligation to keep in touch with us, not ours to find you.

Please e-mail or phone us for additional descriptions or JPEG's of any of our current inventory, or if you don't see something you would like to have, let us know.
Unlike some web shops, we will try to list all of our current inventory and prices so you can see and shop here in our virtual store.  We have a long list of customers you can e-mail for references.
    Thanks, for visiting Worldwide Sax.
